SS Peter & Paul Catholic Church at 5300 Old Howell Branch Rd, Winter Park, FL 32792-9323 US - FEEDING THE HOMELESS
| FEEDING THE HOMELESS |
To the Sts. Peter & Paul FTH volunteers - Thanks! On behalf of the good homeless men, women and children of the Coalition for the Homeless, thank you for your support! Be assured that 100% of your contribution is used to feed the homeless. The Coalition The Coalition for the Homeless is located on Terry Lane just south of the "O-rena" in downtown Orlando. Once each day, an organization provides meals. On the fourth Sunday of each month, we serve in the "Pavilion," a large open room about the size of our parish center. We feed over 500 men and women - more than any other organization or church - a tribute to your generosity. The extreme poverty that we see each month can be heart wrenching, but we are constantly told by the homeless how blessed they are for the meals they receive. For many, this is the only meal they receive for several days. And generally, they only receive a small portion of food during other meals. But when we serve, they eat until they are full! We encourage everyone to join us at the Coalitioin at least once to witness this miracle of God's mercy. Just drop by the parish center and sign up on that Sunday. Volunteers with pickup trucks are always needed to transport the food from the Church to the Coalition. The Team "...let your light shine..." (Mt 5:16) We are a diverse group of young and old, with varying backgrounds, all with a common bond to share His love. We are blessed that you are with us in this ministry and that our Pastor, Fr. Derk, as well as our Deacons, support us in this outreach program. If you haven't already, please stop in the parish center and meet some of your team mates. But know that we're not in this alone. Our brothers and sisters from St. Augustine and St. James join us each month at the Coalition. We also receive food donations from Catholic Charities, Publix, and Panera Bread. We do our very best to operate as efficiently as possible - this includes recycling baking tins. For this reason, you may have received a tin that looks used. You have told us that tins have been handed out with holes or not completely clean and so we have instituted quality assurance in our cleaning process to minimize problems. But, unfortunately, we'll miss some. Please help us by inspecting and cleaning the tins (if needed) when you get home. But DO continue to give us feedback when problems occur...we APPRECIATE your inputs and suggestions! God bless you and your families! P.S. We'd love to have a cleanup team - are you up for a challenge? Please see the parish bulletin for contact information.
