On the 4th Sunday of each month the Feed the Homeless Ministry at Sts. Peter and Paul church works to bring nutritious meals to the good men and women at the Coalition of the Homeless in Downtown Orlando. The Feed the Homeless Ministry collects contributions of food from parishioners as well as baked goods from local businesses. Monetary donations are also accepted.
On the 3rd Sunday of each month the volunteers hand out tins after each Mass to be returned the following Sunday between 7:45am and 2:40pm to the Parish Center. Volunteers gather to prepare the food and then deliver it to the Coalition. The food is transported by parishioners who supply the use of their own vehicles. A prayer of thanksgiving is offered by either a volunteer or one of the homeless men or women. The Feed the Homeless Ministry typically serves over 500 meals and we often hear, “Thank you and God bless you” from these gracious people.
The Feed the Homeless Ministry has over 100 volunteers. All work to ensure that 100% of the donations go to feed the homeless. Also all the members work to treat the homeless with respect and dignity.
