History

The Knights of Columbus Council 2112 was founded in 1920 to support the only Catholic Church in Orlando at that time, St. James parish.  St James was not a cathedral yet and the entire Central Florida territory was part of the Diocese of St. Augustine.  From 1920 the Knights met at the Moose Hall on East Robinson Street in Orlando until 1932 when they moved into a classroom at St. James School where they resided until 1955.  That year, Council 2112 moved into its own quarters on Gear Lake Rd.  This facility was near the Orlando Executive Airport on Colonial where they resided for the next 26 years.

The move of the Knights of Columbus to its present quarters on Cornelia Avenue in 1981, along with the explosive growth of new churches in the area, offered a natural opportunity for Council 2112 to actively take on the support of four parishes within proximity to its new home.  The four parishes are St. Margaret Mary (1947), Good Shepherd (1955), St. Joseph (1962), and Saints Peter and Paul (1967).  From 1981 though 1999 the Council was still loosely affiliated with St. James until the founding of the St. James Cathedral Knights of Columbus Council 12402 in 1999.

Council 2112 just had the distinction of celebrating its 100th anniversary in March of 2020 while in COVID 19 lockdown.  This setback came with a silver lining as the money saved by not holding our annual awards dinner and banquet was distributed to our four parishes at a time when they are really in need of financial support.
